Our Journey
Motor Radiator Repairs has existed in several different locations and with four different owners since the 1940’s. From it’s beginnings on the site of the current Whanganui District Council building on the corner of St Hill and Guyton Streets with Charlie Savage, over to Putiki with Skin Hackett and back to its current location in Guyton St with Nigel Baker and current owners Shane and Nicola Terrey.
The radiator business has changed a lot in this time, from the days of mostly brass radiators, to now, where they are primarily made from aluminium and plastic, and with various different business sidelines along the way such as repairing copper kettles in the 40’s to selling asparagus in the present day. The one thing that has remained constant through the years however is our commitment to excellence and making sure every customer is satisfied.
Our People
Current owner, Shane Terrey, was employed at Motor Radiator Repairs Ltd between 1996 and 2007, taking a 4-year detour to work for Taylor Engineering & Auto Radiators before coming back to purchase the business from Nigel in 2011 and enlisting his wife Nicola to do the books.
